NYX Professional Makeup is a brand which caused a lot of excitement within the beauty blogging community last year. The brand finally made its way into Boots stores across the UK and it is safe to say, we all went a little crazy about it!
My first blog post about NYX, New In: NYX Cosmetics back in July featured the NYX eye brow pomade and matte setting spray. I have got on so well with the products since then and have repurchased them many times. I decided to go back to my local Boots store and finally try the lip products that NYX has to offer.
After a lot of swatching and testing the lipsticks, I purchased the NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick. The sales advisor at the counter said it lasts longer than the Soft Matte Lip Cream, and I just really love matte liquid lipsticks – so I went for it!
Colour and shade
I purchased the shade 04 Soft-Spoken because I was looking for more nude shades for my lipstick collection. Most of the lipsticks I own are red, which don’t get me wrong is perfect for when the festive season comes around, but sometimes I can’t justify rocking up to a lecture with a bright red lip.
Soft-spoken is a nude shade with pink undertones which completes any makeup look for the day time. It is so wearable and is perfect for days at work or university.
The consistency of the NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick is really light and I genuinely can’t feel it on my lips at all. As a result, it does require a couple of layers because it does apply a little thinly. Even so, the colour and pigmentation is so good that I don’t really mind!
The lasting power of this lipstick is good but it doesn’t last all day; I’d say it lasts for around four to six hours. Therefore, it’s great if you are heading out to go shopping or out with friends for the afternoon or evening, but I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re going for a meal.
I would definitely recommend asking about NYX lip liners when purchasing a lipstick like this – I currently don’t have one which matches this shade. Consequently, it’s very noticeable when it starts to rub off throughout the day.
The NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick goes with almost any makeup look, yes I mean any, and the colour is gorgeous. It’s a shame about the staying power but for the price and pigmentation; I don’t mind reapplying throughout the day.
