I know it’s a bit late on in April to write this post but I’ve finally got around to it! I was so excited to receive the April Birchbox, especially with a Benefit sample (I’ve never tried a Benefit product before!). My favourite thing about this box is the Rifle Paper Co design, which is absolutely gorgeous! It is definitely going to be sat on my desk for a while to store bits and bobs.
The first item I got in the April Birchbox was a sample of the new Benefit Dew The Hoola. This is a matte liquid bronzer and usually I wouldn’t use a bronzer product on its own, as I’m always reaching for my trusty contour kits. I don’t think i’ll be using this often if at all really, I just tried it and on one cheek it blended perfectly, but it was so patchy on the other side and wouldn’t take to my skin at all.
I would have preferred a sample of the They’re Real Mascara, which was also being sent in some boxes. It’s a shame Birchbox doesn’t always let you choose which product you get because a lot of the time it’s something you don’t want.
The next makeup product I got was from a new Birchbox brand, (I’m not enjoying these I won’t lie, the LOC eye shadow pencil from the February Box ended up really hurting my eyes!), Cynthia Rowley Beauty. This is a black eye liner pencil and I haven’t touched one of these for years as I’m much more of a liquid liner fan. So far I’ve swatched this on the back of my hand and it has a creamy consistency, but I don’t think I’ll be reaching for it on a daily basis.
I also got the Balance Me Tinted Wonder Eye Cream. I will be giving this eye cream a try as it aims to ‘brighten and conceal dark circles,’ which I have a lot of recently!
For hair in the April Birchbox I received the PARLOUR Detangling Leave-In Conditioner. I will probably use this a couple of times because my hair is absolutely awful to brush after I’ve washed it, but apart from that I think this is another product I wouldn’t look at twice if I saw it in store. This is the same with the Kueshi Foot Care Cream. This is a product I wouldn’t think I needed.
I had such high hopes for Birchbox when I first subscribed, receiving a Spectrum Brush (that I use daily which sadly broken, but Spectrum kindly sent me another!) in my first box. Thinking about it, that is the only thing I regularly use from that box, and I’ve only used the nail polish once.
From last month’s box I used the night cream and hair mask, and I now use the lip balm daily. So far I’m only regularly using one product from each box, and the rest are things I don’t really need.
