Happy new year! Hopefully you’re tucked up in bed after a brilliant New Years Eve. I can’t believe it’s actually 2018. When I was little, everyone always said that time would pass quicker when I got older – they weren’t wrong. I feel like I turned eighteen a month ago when I will actually be turning twenty-one this year, graduating and looking for my first full-time job this year (someone, help me).
*Drum roll* I’m finally relaunching Latte Leanne this month! I started this blog in my first year of university when I had a lot more time than what I do now. Life does get in the way sometimes and that’s absolutely okay, but blogging is something that I used to love so I’m going to try and fit it in where I can.
It’s so easy to feel trapped in your blogging niche. While it is important; blogging isn’t about writing about what your audience expects, it’s about having an outlet for you to creatively express yourself. As a way of encouraging myself to write, Latte Leanne is officially a I will write about what I want without a category blog. As well as my beauty posts and cruelty free ramblings, expect more lifestyle, mental health, books, travel, photography and radio posts.
And believe it or not, back in the day, on Latte Leanne I actually reviewed coffee shops. Yep, it happened.
I also wanted to use this post as a chance to reflect on the past year. 2017 has been a bloody brilliant year for me. I finished my second year of university with a first, became the Breakfast Show Producer and now Head of Programming at DemonFM (whaaaat), saw You Me At Six in March and began a new relationship. I also dyed my hair pink in a panic of ‘oh my god I’m twenty’ and it looked awesome.
I have a few resolutions for 2018, I won’t do a whole post about it (although I do enjoy reading those – link me in the comments!) but I do think it’s important to set yourself realistic goals. New years resolutions don’t need to be huge, life changing things. It could be as small as being kinder, going to a concert or reading more books – or blogs!
My first resolution; I finally want to go vegan. I’ve been a vegetarian for nearly five years now, and Veganuary last year was fun. Watching Blue Planet II desperately made me want to do more for the planet – especially the last episode. It talked a lot about the impacts that plastic and our own actions are affecting our oceans and planet as a whole, and I think going vegan is something easy that I can do to help. 🌍
I’d also like to take better care of myself this year. I am the queen of thinking that things will be fine, and tomorrow will be okay. But sometimes it isn’t. I need to take more time to understand how I’m feeling and realise that it’s completely acceptable to take a self-care day or talk to someone. I can be quite a closed book at times so I would really like to work on this.
I’m heading to New York in a couple of days so there will be an influx of New York travel posts being uploaded and I am SO excited about it. Let me know if there’s anything specific you’d like to hear about. There will definitely be posts about photography spots, where to eat and reviews of where we go. 🗽
I also have a podcast in the pre-production process… More to be revealed over the next couple of months!
Thank you for reading, I hope to be seeing more of you in 2018! x
